Chennaites if you’re too busy to get to the fruits and vegetables store, there’s many ways for the fruits and vegetables store to come to you! Online Fruits and vegetables shopping have been rapidly expanding over the past several years, with lots of different websites providing fruits and vegetables delivered right to you. Few offer free home delivery while some websites insists on minimum order value for free home delivery.  Online Fruits and vegetables shopping can save you time, stress, fuel money, and expose you to new types of fruits and vegetables you can’t get at your local grocery store.

To help you sort through the different online fruit and vegetable shopping options out there in Chennai, I’ve reviewed a few online fruit and vegetable online stores in Chennai. To help you compare prices, I’ve also included the cost and delivery price of a few fruits and vegetables.

  • Angaadi: Angadi has a good selection of fruit and vegetables. They also sell provision like breads, milk products, rice, dal, pulses, cereals, oats, noodles, cooking oils, flour, tea, coffee, sugar, salt, spice, etc. They are currently offering free delivery in and around sholinganallur, kelambakkam area and cover most part of OMR (old mahabalipuram road).  They offer very best price, around 20 to 40% lesser than retail stores. For instance cabbages are sold at Rs.10 per kg, while the same is sold at Rs.15-20 at other stores. All orders made before 10 pm are delivered next day evening.  Quality of fruits and vegetable is very good. Packing is good and delivery staff is very friendly and courteous. I have recently used their service and found their service as excellent. They offer free home delivery without any additional charges.
  • Veggibazaar:  Veggibazaar is one of the longest established online fruits and vegetables store in Chennai. Veggibazaar is India’s first online vegetable & fruits store, launched in the year 2009.  They sell only fruits and vegetables. Pricing is normal and few exotic vegetables are sold at premium price. Cabbage is sold at Rs.15 which is nearly the price available in market. Customer service is okay. Veggibazaar is also selling organic vegetables
  • Ordervegetableonline: Ordervegetableonline offers a pretty good variety of items and their prices is nominal.  Few products are sold above market price.  Minimum orders should be Rs.150 and above for which Rs.20 is collected as service Charge and orders above Rs.250 are delivered free without service charge. • Frrutto: Frrutto is new entrant and sell only fruits online. They serve few areas in Chennai. fruits are delivered on the Next Day of order like other online stores. Price of most fruits are at premium and for instance mosambi which is sold around Rs.35 to Rs.40 is sold at Rs.50 here. Frrutto also specialize in fruits that you won’t find in the average fruit store. They offer same day delivery with service charge. Customer service is excellent.

Final Word

These sites are great for those of us in out-of-the-way towns or who live far from city centers. These sites are also a great way to keep an elderly relative’s cupboards full if you’re in another city. You also need to plan in advance to avoid making multiple smaller purchases, since there’s a significant delivery charge for small orders except at Angaadi.

Online shopping can keep your trips down this season, and provide you with a huge selection of top-quality items. Happy shopping!
